You have been looking for a definitive playlist to work those socks off in a gym or looking for that extra motivation whilst running or working out? We have curated a list of the best workout songs or the ‘Sweat-It-Out’ List as we like to call it. Being old and heavily inclined to the bygone era of legendary rock & pop (*sob sob*), a fair number of the songs are exactly that. But we have tried our level best to push a few of our favourites off the list to accommodate the younger generation. So, here goes.
Eye of the Tiger
Alright, so this has to be a Top 5 on any list right? The Rocky song is the best song ever to get that last metaphorical or literal punch in.
Welcome to the Jungle
Guns n’ Roses are still going strong eh. No wonder though, with the huge number of awesome songs they have amassed. ‘Welcome to the jungle we take it day by day/If you want it you’re gonna bleed but it’s the price you pay’. Doesn’t get much better than this now, does it?
This Gym Class Heroes masterpiece has to be the best workout motivation video to have come out recently to really get that adrenalin rushing. ‘Until the referee rings the bell/Until both your eyes start to swell/Until the crowd goes home/What we gonna do y’all?/Give ’em hell, turn their heads’ Motivation at the peak right?
Hall of Fame
The Script along with Will.I.Am do a stupendous task of pushing you a bit farther on that treadmill when you are about to give up. ‘Standing in the hall of fame/And the world’s gonna know your name/Cause you burn with the brightest flame’ A song to push yourself through all odds be it in the gym or in life.
We will Rock You
No Top 10 list can ever be complete without a song or two from Queen! With songs for every occasion in their repertoire, ‘We will rock you’ gets your feet thumping to those drums be it while dancing or running. Do we even need to include the lyrics! We love the following modern rendition as well.
Elli Goulding for us has to be right there along with Adele, Beyonce, Sia etc. And though we do love her ‘Lights’, ‘Burn’ does keep those feet moving and that iron pumping. ‘We’ll be raising our hands, shining up to the sky/’Cause we got the fire, fire, fire, yeah we got the fire fire fire’ Pumped up much!?
Gonna Fly Now
So, yeah. Another Rocky plugin. Not much of lyrics in this one. But, if that iconic music doesn’t make you give everything you have on the gym floor, nothing ever would.
Though we are a sucker for ‘It’s time’ from Imagine Dragons, this song has much more thunderous drum beats than their any song yet. ‘Who do you think you are?/Dreaming ’bout being a big star’. The incessant repetition of ‘Thunder’ is sure to get that adrenalin up and running.
The King of Pop makes an appearance as well. You can dance to almost any song from Michael Jackson. But ‘Beat It’ hits you right where you want it to, during your workouts. ‘No one wants to be defeated/Showin’ how funky and strong is your fight/It doesn’t matter who’s wrong or right’. Dead right!
With the kind of attention this song has been garnering owing to that Levi’s ad, there is no way we couldn’t have it in here. Written and sung by the oh-so-beautiful French singer, Jeanne Galice, this song has to get the feet moving with the outstanding music and her heavenly voice.
